Detroit Bagel Factory
Richard Steinik has been in the bagel business for over four decades. He traces his bagel expertise back to his days in New York when he led the bagel bakers' union. Known locally as the only bagel store with an authentic New York-style bialy (Yiddish word short for bialystoker, from Białystok, a city in Poland, is a small roll that is a traditional dish in Polish Ashkenazi cuisine), Steinik takes his business seriously. In addition to the assortment of fresh bagels and bialys, Detroit Bagel Factory offers an assortment of kosher fishes including lox and sable. Steinik cares about the community and gives back in a charitable fashion to several local and national organizations.
